WEST RICHLAND, Wash. - Court documents from the Benton County Prosecutor's Office are shedding new light on the shooting at William Wiley Elementary on April 22.

A body was found in the home of the William Wiley Elementary School deadly shooting suspect.

According to probable cause documents, police responded to the school for reports of an active shooter, with witnesses describing a male, later identified as Elias Huizar, wearing black clothes and a black hat firing multiple shots at a female on campus.

A woman, later identified as Amber Rodriguez, 31, by the Benton County Coroner's Office was found dead at the scene.

Amber Rodriguez

Amber Rodriguez, 31, was one of two victims of Elias Huizar.

The shooting was captured by school surveillance cameras and reportedly shows the suspect firing multiple shots, the victim falling down and the suspect firing more shots.

According to court documents, Rodriguez had multiple fatal gunshot wounds to her head and torso and eight bullet casings were recovered at the scene.

Rodriguez was the ex-wife of Huizar and the two had two children together, one of whom reportedly witnessed the shooting.

Huizar is now wanted for first degree murder with aggravated domestic violence and firearm allegations, according to court documents from the Prosecutor's Office.

Police are searching for the alleged William Wiley Elementary School shooter who reportedly killed his ex-wife and girlfriend and abducted a one-year-old, according to an Amber Alert from the Washington State Patrol.

Huizar, the suspect in two murders in West Richland who has been on the run since abducting a one-year-old on April 22, was possibly spotted in Portland.

Portland Police have reportedly advised West Richland PD that Huizar may have been spotted driving a black sedan, rather than the silver one that was reported in the Amber Alert issued on the night of April 22.

West Richland PD is currently following up on the lead and will release more information as it becomes available.

The Amber Alert, issued around 9:45 p.m. on April 23, reports that law enforcement is searching for Elias Huizar, 39, and Roman Huizar, 1. Elias is reportedly driving a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla with Washington plate CBZ4745 and is possibly driving to Mexico, according to WSP.

Roman's name was later corrected to be Roman Santos, according to the WRPD on Tuesday.

Amber Alert for Elias and Roman Huizar

Huizar is suspected of shooting a woman at William Wiley on Mon., April 22 and killing another at his home, according to the West Richland Police Department. He is also facing charges for child rape from February and was supposed to be in court the same morning.

The initial shooting happened around 3:23 p.m. as students were being released from William Wiley for the day. Several schools were locked down as a result, according to WRPD.

Elias Huizar

Investigators believe that Huizar is armed and dangerous and may commit more crimes. The public is asked to call 911 if Huizar is seen and the Amber Alert has been extended to include both Washington and Oregon, according to the WRPD.

WRPD confirmed with NonStop Local that Huizar, a former Yakima police officer, was charged in February with child rape. His trial was set for Mon., April 22, however was stricken, according to court documents.

Court documents detailing the February incident say officers were made aware of a possible sexual assault by Huizar of a teenager on Feb. 3 with reports that his underage girlfriend caught him assaulting her 16-year-old friend in his home.

Huizar worked as a police officer for almost nine years, from June 2013 to February 2022.
