OIC job fair for young workers

OIC is hosting a job fair for job seekers between the ages of 16 and 21 on May 13 in Yakima.

YAKIMA, Wash.-OIC of Washington is hosting a job fair for young job seekers aged 16-21 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Henry Beauchamp Community Center on May 13.

The job fair was previously scheduled for May 9, but was rescheduled due to "unforeseen circumstances," according to OIC.

"We recognize the importance of providing opportunities for our youth and are dedicated to making this event a memorable and beneficial experience for everyone involved." OIC said in a statement on the rescheduling.

Local businesses are encouraged to participate in the job fair to help young people find employment opportunities and begin their professional journeys, according to an Opportunities Industrialization Center press release on the event.

Businesses can showcase job openings at the fair or serve as panelists to help young job seekers with mock interviews to build interview skills and gain confidence.

According to OIC, businesses may also be host employers, offering job opportunities to young people at the event. Sponsored internships are also available for $1,300 for businesses interested in providing an 80-hour internship.

Businesses interested in attending the job fair can register online.

Those attending the job fair will be able to interact with potential employees and participate in mock interviews.

Job seekers planning to attend must first participate in job readiness sessions, according to OIC. The sessions will help young job seekers identify strengths and set goals, strategize for a successful job search and how to keep a job once they are hired.

Job seekers planning to attend the job fair can register online.

The Henry Beauchamp Community Center is located at 1211 S. 7th Street in Yakima.
