Park rangers to host hikes highlighting Manhattan Project in Tri-Cities

TRI-CITIES, Wash. - Rangers at the Manhattan Project National Historical Park will host a walking tour and a history hike in early May, according to a press release from the park.

On May 1, a park ranger will guide a free 2.5 mile walk starting at the Uptown Theater in Richland while discussing what daily life was like for Manhattan Project workers and their families in World War II. The walk goes from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

On May 4 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., rangers will guide attendees on free 3.6 mile round-trip moderate Hike Through Time to the top of Candy Mountain. Rangers will share short stories various historical events along the way.

The hike starts at the Candy Mountain Preserve Trailhead. Attendees are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the start time.
